Challenge
Olive + Oak is a beloved St. Louis restaurant. To be on brand for this new 45-seat, independent, full-service restaurant, we knew it had to feature high quality design – yet still be cost effective. Making our construction work more complex was the location: inside an existing building on a street with heavy pedestrian traffic, and converting a bookstore into a restaurant.
Solution
Managing the entire process from design to construction, we offered several design options with related cost/benefit analyses to help the ownership team find the right project for them. The final design features high-impact yet cost-effective solutions, including a custom-made hand-crafted herringbone patterned ceramic tile and white marble front sales counter, emerald green velvet-look upholstery and brass back bar.
Throughout the project, we carefully managed the traffic of pedestrians and Olive + Oak patrons, while also removing a large section of the storefront to allow easier access and replacement of the concrete floor. We even did the carpentry work in-house, resulting in cost, schedule and quality benefits. The finished building feels luxurious and inviting.
